Greenpoint Theater

Theater construction at 18 Greenpoint Avenue, Brooklyn, New York 11222. The project borrows and extends towards the industrial fabric of the surrounding neighborhood, and the desire to gain public engagement and increase waterfront visibility and accessibility.

The building is designed is with a kinetic façade with panels that responds to light. The cantilevering public front of the theater is orientated towards the water. The structure relies on 3 primarily large span trusses, which give the buildings its unique form. The public circulation exists on the exterior of the façade, leading to a public green roof which acts as both a water collection system, and a public performance space. Directly below the green roof is the large indoor theater space.
